20/04/2008 - Conduit and pitot
holes
Not
many pictures today; but most of the day was spent drilling the
holes for the conduit using a step drill and jig which can be seen
in the picture. (Download the plans for the conduit holes
off Van's web site. We also drilled the left hand wing
skeleton just as we had done for the right hand one 2 weeks
before.
As I had bought safe airs plumbing kit for AOA and
pitot; the kit includes snap bushings for the lines. So the
three holes in the mains ribs were drilled out to except the
bushings.I didn't have the right size
drill for this; and having been caught not having the right size
drill before decided to buy an engineering kit with all the
fractional sizes in. Whilst not as good as the purpose made
aircraft ones they certainly do for odd jobs where a peculiar size
is needed.

The last hour of the day was
spent making the jig for the fuel tanks and starting on the z
brackets.
